You don't need a professional rag;
an old, soft T-shirt works perfectly.
It doesn't have to be 100% cotton,
but ensure the fabric is soft and smooth.
Avoid coarse materials like denim or
?textured towels, as they may cause scratches.
The abrasive particles are too coarse
and can cause micro-scratches on the surface.
Moreover, the paste can get trapped in intricate
details, leading to residue buildup and discoloration.
Always use a professional polishing cream for the best results.
This chemical reaction removes the "patina" and
"oxidized shadows" essential to our designs.
It can leave the metal looking flat and dull,
? stripping away the depth of the craftsmanship.
Apply an appropriate amount of cream to the cloth
referring to the video,
and work it in thoroughly with your finger.
If you polish without blending it first,
the cream may get trapped in the engravings
and harden into a white residue as it dries.
Press the pre-blended area firmly
against the item and polish well.
Then, use a clean part of the cloth
to wipe away any remaining cream and dirt,
and check for a beautiful, clean finish.
As long as you are polishing metal,
the cloth will continue to turn black.
Since the goal is to remove oxidation,
the process is complete
once the surface tarnish is gone
and the original luster appears.
Don't over-polish;
the key is to stop when you feel
the brilliance is beautiful enough for you. ?
Wash the item thoroughly with mild soap.
If any polishing cream remains in tight spaces,
gently remove it with a soft brush.
Next, pat dry with a soft towel.
Due to the intricate design of our pieces,
moisture can hide in areas a towel cannot reach.
Since remaining moisture causes discoloration,
use an air duster or a hairdryer
to ensure it is completely dry.
The stainless steel chains and springs used in our pieces
will generally not rust if you follow the maintenance
steps mentioned above.
However, please do not apply oil for lubrication,
as you might with a motorcycle.
Oil attracts dust and grime.
If you have already applied oil,
please clean it off using a parts cleaner.
For those who feel unsure about
self-maintenance, or wish to restore
the original "Blackened Brass" or
"Oxidized Silver" finish, we offer a
professional repolishing service
for ?3,500 per item.
If any parts need to be replaced,
we will provide you with a separate quote.
*Shipping costs both ways are
covered by the customer.
Please contact us by email with photos
of your item's current condition first.
